How it all began: the Super Secret story
You could say that Super Secret Ice Cream came into being almost by chance. Its founder, Kristina Zontini, stumbled upon Hello, My Name is Ice Cream by Dana Cree at a Chicago ice cream shop. And what began as a fun project to lift her spirits quickly evolved into something far more significant.
Though Kristina's path to ice cream was unplanned, it wasn't entirely surprising. Her first job in high school was at a local ice cream shop, and her friends would say she'd always been obsessed with ice cream.
Over the years, she tried her hand at many things, from managing farmers markets to working in development at her local NPR affiliate. But after experimenting with ice cream recipes at home, Kristina's passion for creating unique flavors became undeniable.

Dissatisfied with the typical store-bought ice cream, which often contains artificial syrups and lots of air, Kristina aimed to craft ice cream like a pastry chef would—focusing on the highest quality ingredients.
She started making everything from scratch, using milk and cream from local dairies and sourcing local fruits and herbs. Her mission was clear: to offer a truly artisanal experience with flavors that reflect the care and thoughtfulness behind each batch.
The support from the community was overwhelming. What started as an informal “Super Secret Ice Cream Club” out of her home turned into a bustling local business.
By 2022, Kristina and her husband took the plunge and opened a storefront on Main Street. From making ice cream in a small freezer to running a full shop with employees, it's been a whirlwind journey. But at its core, the team's mission remains simple: to bring joy to the community and its visitors through thoughtfully made ice cream: the best refreshment after a few hours of adventure.
